Thursday...

I know the kids have basketball games tonight, so I tried to limit homework.
Math: Lesson 10.1 (most finished in class)
Science: Study Guide B4.1 (most finished in class
Reading: Comprehension test tomorrow over "Me and Uncle Romie"
Spelling & Vocabulary: Lesson 18 test tomorrow

No homework, but...

Students do not have any homework this evening, however they can always read to earn AR points. I am having them bring their books home tonight. Also, we are having 2 minute math multiplication drills daily. When students pass all ten test, they will get pizza for lunch. Most of the class is taking the 2x test tomorrow. They have their speech in their Bison Binder to practice at home.

STUDY!!! Chapter 3 science test tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26th.

Upcoming events...

Students will be bringing their speech home from school tonight. The speech contest for our class is Tuesday, February 8th. The top six from our class will go on to the county speech contest on Tuesday, February 15th. Please help your child memorize their speech.

Our Valentine's party will be Monday, February 14th from 2-3.

The Challenge Is On!!!

Today we further discussed our Reading, Running, & 'Rithmetic Marathon. I have challenged each student to participate. I hope you will encourage your child to reach for this goal. Check students' Bison Binder for forms. Students should not have any homework today!! They could work on reading for AR points or log onto www.studyisland.com and work on math skills listed under 3rd grade and the "New Math" tab.

***I can not stress enough how important it is for the kids to learn their multiplication facts. Those that do not know them are really struggling and will continue to fall behind if they don't learn them. Please be practicing at home!!!***

Today we learned about invertebrates, making tables, and comparing and contrasting. No reading assignment this evening, however some students may have in-class assignments to finish up. Students need to be practicing multiplication facts and AR reading at home.

Exciting Day

Look at us in our PJs and crazy hair!!! Exciting day for us...we got a sweet new girl in our class. Isabel comes from Kansas City, KS, and we are thrilled to have her in our class!
Today the students learned of a new challenge...Reading, Running, & 'Rithmetic Marathon!!!
The students will earn 26.2 AR points, master 26 math facts and concepts, and walk/run 26.2 miles over the spring semester. There will be log added to their Bison Binders this week to keep track of points, levels, and miles. More info to come...

Hump Day!!

Wednesdays mean no homework...unless students didn't complete an in-class assignment!! However, they definitely could benefit from math facts. We are already working on division and some are still struggling with addition and subtraction. Please practice with flash cards (there is even a flashcard app for ipod/iphone.) If you need flashcards I can send a set home with your child just let me know.

Help!! Desperate need of supplies...

Shorty stubby pencils have taken over our room!! Please replenish your child's pencil supply. Also, a few students have never brought colored pencils to school and we use them almost everyday!! Check with your child and see what other supplies they might be running low on.

Reading: read "Ask the Expert" pages 436-439 and have log signed
Math: worksheet 8.5
Science: Study Guide 1.2

Homework

It about took a stick of dynamite to get the girls and I out of bed this morning, but it was so great to see everyone today!!The class had so much fun sharing their Christmas stories and gifts. We worked really hard today and added Shirley English and Science to our daily routine. The Shirley English will always be completed at school, however science will occasionally come home for homework. Tonight's homework (if not completed at school)...

Science: study guide page 2 & 3
Reading: read pages 432-435 to parents.
